National Trust event. After the evacuation of Dunkirk in July 1940, it was thought that Studland Bay, with it's shallow seas and sandy beaches, was a prime location for a German invasion. Join us as we look at maps and photographs from the War Department detailing the location of a huge number of anti-invasion defences, including rifle pits, weapon pits and gun emplacements. We also explore the heath, visiting the ruins of pill boxes, so evocative of Studland's part in WWII.
